"THE ODYSSEY #2" FRAMED PRINT BY FRITZ SCHOLDER (LUISEÑO)
Fritz Scholder was born in 1937 in Breckenridge, Minnesota and was Luiseno, a California Mission tribe. He is known to be a major influence for his generation of Indigenous artists. He received his undergrad degree from Sacramento State University, his MFA degree from the University of Arizona, and went on instruct at the Institute of American Indians Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico in Advanced Painting and Contemporary Art History before deciding to focus solely on his art career in 1969. He worked within a variety of mediums including etching, lithographs, photography, poetry, and painting. His work has been featured in countless museum exhibitions and publications.
