SILVER, CARICO LAKE TURQUOISE & MULTI-STONE MIRCRO INLAY NECKLACE BY CARL CLARK (NAVAJO)
Carl Clark was born in 1952 and is a member of the Many Goats Clan. He has been making jewelry since the 1970's and is primarily self-taught. He developed his micro-inlay technique in the mid- 1970's, which involves laying minute strands of cut stone in pattern to create a mosaic effect. He collaborates with his wife Irene. Irene Clark is a member of the Edgewater Clan and learned to make jewelry with her husband. The art of micro inlay: Micro inlay is a time consuming and rarely practiced technique in which fine strands of cut stone are laid in pattern and glued together then cut crosswise in slabs.
