STERLING SILVER CUTTLEFISH CAST RING BY DAVID GAUSSOIN (NAVAJO)
David Michael Gaussoin was born in 1975 and is of Navajo and Picuris Pueblo descent. He is the son of renowned jewelry Connie Tsosie Gaussoin. He was taught basic techniques of silversmithing by his mother and has continued his education through classes and workshops at the University of New Mexico and the Institute of American Indian Arts. He has a BBA in Business Marketing from the Anderson School of Business at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque. He is known to incorporate traditional materials and techniques such as tufa cast silver with found objects to create truly cutting-edge designs. His work can be found in the permanent collections of the Heard Museum in Phoenix, the Museum of Art and Design in New York, the San Diego School of Man, and the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture in Santa Fe.
