STERLING SILVER PETROGLYPH EARRINGS BY KEE YAZZIE (NAVAJO)
Kee Yazzie was born in 1969 at Ganado, Arizona and is of Hopi and Navajo heritage. He has been making jewelry since 1995 and is inspired by petroglyph imagery along with strong geometric forms and uses both frequently in his work. He studied with his friend jeweler Ray Scott but is predominantly self-taught. In 1999, he won first place in his division at the Heard Museum Guild Indian Market and his work was exhibited in the exhibition "Changing Hands: Art without Reservation" at the Museum of Art and Design in New York City and in the exhibition "Totems to Turquoise" at the Museum of Natural History, also in New York City.
